CARNIVAL IN STARI GRAD

Carnival custom are different from one part of Croatia to another. But all of them has same purpose, to condemn one person for all trouble in past year and to start another without it.

In Stari Grad that person has name and surname, Jure Karnovol.
Jure Karnovol is one who is guilty for all bad happened in past year. At Tuesday 21st February big trial will take a place and poor Jure Karnovol will be guilty as charge.

Before being sentenced, Jure Karnovol will be given the opportunity to testify. In his testimony, of course, he will accuse everybody but him to be guilty for all troubles in town. Regardless his testimony he will be put in the fire and all problems will disappear together with him. Or maybe not, we shall see next year in same time.

Another custom tipical for Stari Grad during Carnival time is sheet parade whan participants take a walk over city, cover with white sheet in order to driven evel spirits.

Beside traditional customs, carnival time in Stari Grad is also time for party . The organizers of Carnival make sure that everyone find something for yourself. From children's masked ball, the clown Srećko performance, live music, performance of high school, bowling tournament....
